Facebook for business pages or you may have had your page for a while, but have you ever taken a look at your page from the point of a visitor? It’s always good to take a really good look at your Facebook page, to make sure that it is working as hard as possible for you. Ask your friends/family to take a look at your page for you too, as when it’s your page, it’s hard to look at it objectively. Let’s examine the Info Tab – when people visit your page on a PC or laptop, they can see the info tab, and will often make that the first page that they visit after the landing page (if you do have a landing page) to find out what your page is all about.
- Go to your Facebook page, just under all the tabs on the left hand side of your page, you will see a small about box – this is the first place you have to tell folks what you do (very important if you do not yet have a custom landing page) – You cannot see much info straight away, so you need to put what you do into smallest amount of words possible, along with a contact number and website address if you have one.
- To amend the details, click on the Edit page tab on the top right of your page
- Click onto the Basic Information tab on the left.
- Ensure that your category is correct (This does not make a huge difference at the moment, but as Facebook pages grow in popularity, there is no doubt that there will a directory for them, and hence why choosing the correct category is important)
- If you’ve already got 25 likes and you have not secured your username – please do so, but BEFORE you do, check this post out here: Set your Facebook URL and get found in Google
- If you are not comfortable publishing your full address on Facebook (be aware of security implications), be sure to add your town or local area.
- Update the hours of business – You may work outside of these hours, but it’s a good idea to complete the hours that you are available for new and existing customers to contact you, it helps to set boundaries so that you are not taking calls at all hours of the night and day!
- The About box is the information that will show on the front page – Tell new visitors what your business is about in as few words as possible – add a contact number, or email address or website address, so that people can find the information easily (I am amazed at how many pages showcase what they do, but do not provide any means of contacting them other than by the wall on their Facebook page – this is not good for business, and will put off people who are looking to purchase from you)
- In the description box, complete more details – if you are selling products – you can list delivery methods and prices of delivery, list how to place an order if anyone sees what they like (and how long it will take for the customer to receive what they ordered), show the methods of payment that you accept and let new and existing customers know how to get in touch with you – you want to give potential customers every reason to choose to do business with you, if they cannot find essential information to place an order, pay for the order and delivery, then it is highly unlikely that they will do business with you.
- In the General Information box, provide the benefits of doing business with you, and show any unique selling points (USPs) about your business or products or crafts.
- Be sure to complete the email/phone/website fields. If you do not have a website, then if you have a Facebook shop, add the link to get to your Facebook shop.
